TRC Ropers Enjoy Cool Weather and Warm Hospitality of Memorial Day Weekend at Pinetop Lakes.

Cool and dry weather was on tap for team ropers at Pinetop Lakes to kick off the hot 2006 summer season of roping with The Roping Company. Both expert and novice team ropers vied for prizes, prestige, and lots of cash at the 2006 TRC Memorial Day weekend roping

The action started Friday with the #14 Roping followed by the the #13 $5K Cash Roping and the #12 Roping. The #14 average was won outright by the hot hands of Phil Monroe and Gordy Nikolaus who tangled up 3 steers in 24.23 seconds. While the #13 $5,000 Cash Roping Average was won by Lyman Tenney and Roger Gishie with 21.72/3 the roper with the most points won the grand ($5,000) prize and that was awarded to Sid Cooley by locking in 3^rd in the Ave with 23.723/3 with partner Nelson Long and several other positions in the average to accumulate 46 points and top all other ropers for the $5,000 in cash. Lyman Tenney was awarded $1,000 in cash for 2^nd high 37 points. TRC congratulates Sid and Lyman for an excellent day of roping.

Saturday followed with the #10 Handicaped 3-Steer with an ultra-hot #11 3-Horse Gooseneck Slant Trailer roping with a rope-off for a saddle. #10 Ave winners Oscar Hosteen and Vern George stepped on the accelerator to compile 3 runs in under 22.27 seconds. The #11 trailer roping favored consistency for the high point prizes as Trailer and Saddle recipients roped together to add to their point total. Ashley Goslin and Dean Lilly roped 3 in 23.38 for 3^rd in the Ave to get them their highest points and then added with great partners on down the line. Congratulations to Ashley and Dean for their great day of ropings…and awards to show it.

Sunday busted out some of the finest and most experienced “novice” ropers in the region. The day started with 195 teams entering the ever popular #8 Buckle roping. Novices Quint Cantrell and Riley Sowle took top honors and buckles in this roping with a scorching 30.66 seconds on three. The #10 Saddle roping produced a #3 champions Lloyd Stock and Bobby VanWinkle. In the #4 category Shawn Curbello and Joey Nastacio locked down the saddle honors. The # 5 saddles were signed, sealed and delivered to Leroy Tsinigine and Calvert Dixon. Congratulations to all of the TRC 2007 Memorial Day Saddle recipients.
